About

I love places that make you realize how tiny you and your problems are.: Hello and karibu to my blog.

I am Elisabeth. I am a teacher, currently working and living in Tanzania in East Africa. I grew up in New Zealand but lived in Australia before moving here (and even have an Aussie passport).

I am Type 1 diabetic. This does not define me, but it certainly adds it's share of challenges to daily life. It has also changed the way I see the world.

I was diagnosed 6 weeks before moving to Tanzania. It was a terrifying decision to go ahead with the travel plans, but I am still here, 18 months later.

On this blog I would like to share my experiences travelling and teaching, and give a little taste of Tanzania. Popular travel blogs seem to be filled with images of healthy and adventurous young people doing amazing things, I would love to give a perspective on this from someone who has the odds stacked a bit more against them.

I hope that it will support and inspire anyone facing challenge, with or without illness. At the same time I am sure my family will enjoy the updates.

Thanks for reading.
